The phone rings while you're under a house.
Your techs are on jobs, the office is on another line, and the call rolls to voicemail. Some callers hang up and try another shop.
AI phone receptionist for Connecticut HVAC
Steady Guide AI sets up a receptionist for the hours you choose, including nights and weekends. It uses your shop's services and rules to ask safety questions, try your on-call tech when needed, and take booking requests for you to confirm.
ReceptionistThanks for calling Bluff Point Heating & Air. This is Sam, the shop's AI assistant, and this call may be recorded. How can I help?
CallerOur furnace stopped and the house is getting cold fast. We have a baby here.
ReceptionistI'm sorry, let's get you some heat. First, do you smell gas, or anything like rotten eggs?
CallerNo, nothing like that.
ReceptionistGood. With an infant at home, I'm treating this as an emergency and connecting you to Jordan, the on-call technician, now. Please stay on the line.
ReceptionistThanks for calling Bluff Point Heating & Air. This is Sam, the shop's AI assistant, and this call may be recorded. How can I help?
CallerThere's a strange smell near the furnace. Kind of like rotten eggs.
ReceptionistPlease get everyone out of the house now. Don't flip any switches or use anything that could spark. Once you're outside, call 911 or your gas company. Can you get outside?
CallerYes, we're going out now.
ReceptionistGood. I'm alerting our on-call technician too. Call the gas company as soon as you're outside.
ReceptionistThanks for calling Bluff Point Heating & Air. This is Sam, the shop's AI assistant, and this call may be recorded. How can I help?
CallerOur oil boiler is about thirty years old. We're thinking about a heat pump. Can someone come out and give us a quote?
ReceptionistHappy to set that up. Is this for the whole house, and do you know roughly how many square feet it is?
CallerWhole house. About eighteen hundred square feet.
ReceptionistThanks. I can request an estimate visit Thursday between 9 and 11, or Friday between 1 and 3. Which works better?
The problem
Your techs are on roofs and in basements. The office closes for the day. Then the first cold night of the season brings a rush of calls. A homeowner with no heat may try another shop before you can call back.
168 hours in a week
− 45 staffed (9 hours × 5 days)
= 123 hours with nobody at the phone
Set your own hours above. Even inside them, calls ring out while your team is on another line. Steady Guide AI picks up when your team can't.
Sound familiar?
None of this is about working hard enough. It's that a small shop can't be on a roof, on the road and on the phone at once.
Your techs are on jobs, the office is on another line, and the call rolls to voicemail. Some callers hang up and try another shop.
Shops with fewer techs turn far fewer of their calls into jobs, and the gap gets worse in the evening.

Homeowners get home, find the house too hot or too cold, and pick up the phone. That's when your office is closed.
Someone has to answer at dinner, on weekends and on holidays. In a small shop, that someone is usually you.

How a call works
We configure the receptionist around your rules and test it before launch. AI and phone connections can fail, so we agree on a fallback with you. It is not an emergency service or a guarantee of response.
Picks up on the schedule you choose, names your shop, says it's an AI assistant and that the call may be recorded.
Asks about gas smells and CO alarms on urgent calls. If there's danger, safety instructions come first.
What's wrong, where, how urgent, and who's calling, checked against your services and service area.
You receive a summary of handled calls: who called, what they reported and what action was attempted. Your team reviews the details.
Guardrails
These are setup rules we test, not guarantees that AI will never make a mistake. Your team remains responsible for reviewing calls and following up.
Who we are
Steady Guide AI LLC is based in Groton. We work only with heating and cooling shops. We're a new company, so we take on a few shops at a time and set each one up properly. You work directly with Ben, the founder, from the first call through setup and after.
Questions
Something else on your mind? Ask it on the demo, or email ben@steadyguideai.com.
Yes. It introduces itself as your shop's AI assistant at the start of the call and answers honestly if asked. It speaks naturally and handles interruptions, so the call still feels easy.
No. Your existing number forwards to your receptionist on the schedule you pick: after hours, on weekends, or when a call isn't picked up after a few rings. Some phone plans charge for call forwarding, so it's worth checking yours.
Gas smells and CO alarms get safety instructions first. No-heat and no-cooling calls follow your rules: a warm transfer to your on-call tech, an alert to you, or a booked first-thing visit. If your on-call tech doesn't answer, it follows the backup plan you set.
It is not a replacement for 911. Anyone in danger should call 911.
No. We do the setup, the testing and the changes. What you'll do is read a short summary after each call, the way you'd read a message slip, and tell us in plain words if something should change. Email, a text or a phone call is fine.
The receptionist is $499 a month plus a $999 one-time setup. Local SEO is $149 a month alongside our receptionist or a website from us, or $199 on its own, plus $299 setup. A website is $999 one time, with hosting included and no monthly fee. The receptionist and a website together are $1,499 setup instead of $1,998; the receptionist is still $499 a month. Pricing shows what each one includes. You get the full price in writing before you commit to anything.
No. After setup it's month to month, and you can cancel with 30 days' notice. Founding shops agree to a 3-month minimum in return for the lower setup price.
Calls can be recorded and transcribed so your summaries are accurate and your setup keeps improving. Callers hear a recording notice at the start of every call. Recordings and transcripts belong to your shop, and we never sell them or use them for marketing. The details are in our Privacy Policy.
You receive summaries of handled calls and transcripts where enabled. AI can miss details or make mistakes, so review them. Tell us what should have happened and we adjust the setup. We test escalation and fallback rules before launch; they cannot guarantee that every error will be caught.
Keep it if it works for you. On the demo, compare how the receptionist uses your shop's rules, asks safety questions, takes booking requests and summarizes handled calls. Decide whether it fits your shop.
Ben, the founder. From the first call through setup and after, you have one person to call or email, not a ticket queue.
Book a demo
Tell us a little about your shop and we'll build the demo around it: your shop's name, your services, your towns, your rules. Then hear it take calls, and throw your hardest scenario at it.
Want a website with online booking or local SEO too, or instead? Pick it in step 1 and we'll cover it on the call.
